The student strike that disrupted classes at the University of Botswana (UB) last week has come to an end. The UB Vice Chancellor issued an official report to all staff and students today, January 30, indicating that the special meetings between the UB Senate and Student Representative Council allowed the two sides to discuss the student petition and agree upon steps towards resolving the student concerns. The University has agreed to consider the various demands, including supplementary exams, staffing issues at the new School of Medicine, and UB participation in the Intervarsity Games.
According to the information treceived from the CIEE Resident Director, Batsirai Chidzodzo, earlier today, all UB courses were held today without incident, and the campus is back to normal. We all hope that the remainder of the semester will continue without further interruptions.
