CIEE is excited to announce that we have recently been approved by the U.S. Treasury Department to offer educational programs in Cuba. For more than 60 years CIEE has been providing students, faculty, and study abroad professionals the highest level educational experiences all around the world and we're excited to extend these opportunities into Cuba. CIEE offered successful academic, study, and professional exchange programs in Cuba from 2000 – 2003, and is very pleased to be able to do so again.
Today Cuba is on the cusp of unprecedented political, economic, and social transformation. Liberalization of the Cuban economy, changes in leadership, and renewed interconnectedness with the world are heralding the start of a new era in Cuba. CIEE is delighted to deliver our expert programming at such an exciting and intriguing time in Cuba, and to bring members of the U.S. and Cuban academic communities together to explore the country’s dramatic history, rich culture, and the profound changes that are under way.
Beginning in summer 2012, CIEE will be offering faculty and administrators from institutions of higher education the opportunity to join CIEE on an International Faculty Development Seminar in Cuba. CIEE programs in Cuba will be offered in collaboration with the Universidad de la Habana, which, founded in 1728, is the oldest in Cuba and one of the first in the Americas. It has been at the center of many of the country’s most historic and important events, and will provide an incomparable jumping-off point for explorations of Cuba past, present, and future. We are particularly pleased to continue this two decade-old partnership with the Universidad de la Habana.
We will be providing more information about upcoming CIEE programs in Cuba shortly and will gladly answer questions and provide more details about the new CIEE offerings in Cuba. To contact CIEE IFDS staff, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
